Chiropractors and manipulation go hand-in-hand (see what I did there). Along with manipulation, we provide a plethora of soft tissue techniques. One of the techniques that is new to our Office is called FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment using Rehabilitation). FAKTR combines instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques (e.g. Graston technique) with rehabilitation exercise movements to stimulate the cells of the body to heal faster, while at the same time, correcting the natural movement pattern allowing for a greater degree of range of motion.
When an injury occurs, the body has a way of protecting the area whether it be adhesions, scar tissue buildup or muscle tightness. All these protective mechanisms act as a suit of armor protecting the area of injury. FAKTR technique helps in breaking up the adhesions and relaxes the muscles in the area for optimal relief and movement.
FAKTR can be used to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including tendinopathy, sprains, strains and entrapment syndromes. It can also be used to treat fascial restrictions such as plantar fasciitis, ITB syndrome, myofascial pain syndromes, adhesive capsulitis, shin splints and post-surgical recovery (scar tissue build up – c-section scars).
